ARTIST STATEMENT

The lives of honey bees have enchanted humans for centuries. Bees, honey, and wax are valued by civilizations spanning the globe and have often turned up in myth and legend. Artists have depicted bees and their process of making through cave paintings, Egyptian hieroglyphs, Grecian pottery, Renaissance paintings, and the contemporary art of today. This series explores the concept of honey bees as makers, focusing on the invaluable items that they produce: honey, wax, architecture, pollination.
